  • Bob's car

My Rover went kaputt, last week. The engine had been overheating a bit and was obviously the start of something nasty. According to the 'experts', there had been a head block crack or head gasket leak which had a consequential cause of a leak in the radiator. The nett result, blown engine. I have been told that the model was prone to it.

Since then I have been trying to work out an alternative. The Rover is off to a scrap yard and I have found a W reg Proton with only 37000 miles on the clock. It drives well, has 11 months MOT and the best bit, will only cost £295.

I collect it on Friday ready to tax it for the first of the month.

  • District Meeting

This morning me and Spot couldn't do our usual walk along the sea front, we couldn't see where the sea ended and the prom began, it was a high tide and the prom was awash, this evening we attempted going on the beach, but the sea was coming in thick and fast, and we thought better of it.

Spot has mislaid her coat, so if you see a  blue greyhound sized coat about, then it could be hers.

Tonight I attended a District Meeting for Smithdon and Brothercross Guide Association, it was held at Brancaster Staithe in a converted barn called Wol's House, there are 2 bedrooms downstairs, a small lounge and kitchenette upstairs, and everywhere is decorated with Winnie the Pooh memorabilia, i took my Brownies on a sleepover there earlier this year, it sleeps 8, it is lovely and cosy, with a log fire burning. It was a good friendly meeting.

    Today I finished reading

    Flood Tide by Clive Cussler
A Dirk Pitt, novel, very good, enjoyable read.

  • Hunstantons Christmas Lighting Up

This year Hunstanton had bran new christmas lights, they were switched on yesterday by the Dame, in the Priness Theatre Pantomine, Sleeping Beauty. There was also a parade of decorated minis, and the Town Band playing, the streets were crowded to watch the Lights come on.

And Jacksons what did we do, well the christmas lighting event is the only sunday a year we open, to make a splash we decided to give 25% off everything, we must be mad, we opened 11-3, and from 11 to 1, it was complete chaos, we were so busy, at one point near the till, we had a huge pile of shoeboxes and shoes that needed to be matched up, as we weren't getting time to put stock away.
